I GoBigger and GoBetter with Globe

Suppose we ask ourselves, what is more sulit? What kind of deal would I choose to maximize my savings? Would I go for the bigger deal? Or the better deal?

If you ask me I would normally go for the bigger deal. Why? Because as the saying goes... the bigger the better. If I would go out to buy groceries, I usually choose to get the bigger variant. You may argue buying bigger will be more expensive at face value, but in the long run, you get to save more. Same goes for ordering food and drinks. I usually order the bigger portion rather than going for two smaller portions. Again, you get to save more if you go for the bigger deal.

That's why if if I choose Globe's new prepaid promos, I would choose GoBigger. Remember. Bigger is Better. This offer maximizes the benefits of calling my wife with no worries of spending too much on longer calls.

Here are some of Globe Prepaids new line of amazing deals. You can either go and choose to GoBigger or GoBetter.

Go Bigger

– GoCALL100 gives me more call minutes (500 mins) VS Competitors offer (200 mins). No need to use prefix to enjoy unlicalls.

– With GoUNLI30, I get real unlimited service with unli allnetwork texts, unli calls to Globe TM, plus the real UNLI-chat experience with the best apps available. It’s the real deal compared to competitor’s UNLI offer.

Go Better

– With GoUNLI25, I get real unlimited service w/ unli Globe/TM calls and texts, plus unli Viber chat to the rest of my friends. It’s the real deal compared to competitor’s UNLI offer.

Transform yourself with Schick

He is faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and more! He is no other than the most recognizable superhero the world has ever known - SUPERMAN.

Superman has a wide range of superpowers. He is super strong, super resilient, he can fly, he is super fast, he shoots laser beams from his eyes, has x-ray vision, can freeze objects with his super breath, and, for his lesser known powers he also has super hearing, super memory and super intellect which makes SUPERMAN a genius too!

All those super powers rolled into one person makes SUPERMAN the superhero everyone looks up to. He is the hero every person desires to be.

Supposing it were possible to borrow Superman's powers at least for one week, what would I do with it?

For every super power Superman has, here is what I will do with them in one week:

Flying - It would be great to travel the world. But why stop there? Why not go to the moon, nearby planets, stars? The universe has a lot to offer. Flying to and from work also allows me to get more quality time for my family. Traffic will not be an issue for a week.

Super Strength - I can use this to help build a better country. How? with my super strength, I can help build classrooms for the indigenous and homes for homeless people, build roads for easy access to vital services, build bridges and more! Our country deserves more specially from our politicians. But if anyone has a special gift like this, he should do his part to improve our land.

Super Resilient / Invulnerability - I would use this to shield our police officers and soldiers from harm when they need to perform their duty. Our poor officers on duty lack the equipment they need all thanks to corruption in our country. One week may not be enough but at least it can still save lives.

Super Intellect - Given a week, I would use my powers to solve some our country's major problems. We have so many problems right now, like corruption, traffic, booming population, territorial crisis, insurgency, and more. Making solutions may be great, but it is up to our leaders to implement them. If I were smart enough, I would elect the best person to advise the president before my one week is up.

X-Ray Vision - I can help out those who are sick and poor by giving free them x-ray exams. Plus I can easily identify problems with sewage lines around Metro Manila. It would be great if clogs can be eliminated ASAP.

Heat Vision - With heat coming from my eyes, I can help my wife cook delicious meals without using the stove. I can make water boil for my baby's milk and bottle sterilization. With that, I can help save money for my family.

Freeze breath - I can save money on my electricity bill by not using the refrigerator for one week, since I can make ice cubes, make cold water, chill meat and produce, etc.

Super hearing - With it, I'm sure to wake up in the wee hours of the morning when my little baby boy cries for his milk and if he needs to change his diapers.

Super memory - Now I won't be scolded by my wife if I forget to buy the grocery items we need since I am not fond of making a list.

Super Speed - I will do all my office and house chores in record time. And since I have all the time in the world, I can give all the remaining time to my wife and baby boy.

With all those powers in one week, I can make a difference in many people's lives, not just my own. For the betterment of the country, service to the poor, quality time with family. That for me matters most.

We all want to be Superman, even for a week because Superman is also the embodiment of freedom - freedom from oppression, freedom from our own and world problems and freedom from our physical limitations.

But even if we can't be Superman, at least we can be free from being unkempt and unshaven. Thanks to the Schick line of products.

When you avail of any of the specially marked Superman - Schick razor packs entitles you to win Superman movie prizes and limited Superman premium items.

Schick. Free Your Skin.

Take your grilling FLAVOR to the next level!

Chicken is always a favorite meal of mine. Be it fried, adobo, curry, anything chicken... but for me, the ultimate chicken meal would be the chicken barbecue. We only have our home made chicken barbecue for the whole family on special occasions like Christmas and New Year, and it we get have it in our meal rarely. It's probably because it is so hard to prepare and cook. Back then we didn't have an electric turbo grill. We only had an old charcoal grill to cook our barbecue.

Me and my dad enjoying the native chicken barbecue...

Still, as a child, I had the opportunity to see how the chicken barbecue was done the old fashioned way. It was through my father that I learned how chicken barbecue should be done. I was hesitant to learn at first, but after seeing the entire process, I got to know how much fun making chicken barbecue can be!

To make our chicken barbecue flavorful, we have to prepare the following.

- Whole chicken
- bowl (for the marinade)
- Soy Sauce / Table Salt
- Sugar
- Whole or ground pepper
- Onions (minced)
- Calamansi / Lemon Juice
- The charcoal grill

First, we have to prepare the marinade. To make some, mix soy sauce, sugar, pepper, minced onions and calamansi together in one bowl. We can change or add more ingredients into our marinade, like table salt instead of soy sauce, or lemon juice instead of calamansi. We can even use our local lemon/lime flavored softdrink as marinade.

Then, we marinade our chicken. Dip the whole chicken from 30 minutes or more to allow the marinade to seep into the meat.

After marinading, we prepare our charcoal grill. Place a generous amount of charcoal into the grill and let it burn for a couple of minutes. When the grill is hot enough and enough time was given for marination, it is time to cook our chicken barbecue.

Place the whole chicken on a long barbecue stick which will be used to hold the chicken for grilling. When grilling the chicken barbecue, we had to manually turn the chicken around so that the chicken will be properly cooked on all sides. We also had to fan the flames to increase the heat. When the chicken turns golden brown, it is ready to serve.

Preparing the chicken barbecue may be tedious at times because we had to manually do all the stuff to get the cooking done, like fanning and turning the chicken around. But in the end, the small and taste of the chicken barbecue was a reward for all the hardwork.

If there was any dish I want to prepare on a lazy Sunday afternoon for my family, this would be it. It's definitely chicken barbecue! This meal is also great for sharing with other family members and guests as well.

For me, making this recipe today can bring back the fun memories with dad . And when my baby boy gets a little older to learn how to cook, I want to share this experience I had with my dad to him.

Luckily today there are already ready-made seasoning mixes available at our local grocery stores. Mc Cormick brings passion to flavor by giving to us new flavors for our barbecue dishes to choose from.

Mc Cormick's Grill Mates is an exciting way to spice up our grilling experience. With a whole lot of choices like Korean BBQ, Pepper Steak, Steak ala Pobre, Hickory Smoked and Cajun, I can try one of these out in the near future when I cook my favorite chicken barbecue again.

Here are some Mc Cormic Grill Mates I would like to try out myself:

The famous Korean dish Bulgogi, which means “fine beef” is now readily available to savor with your grilled beef, pork and chicken with McCormick Korean BBQ Seasoning Mix. It has the right mix of bulgogi marinade of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic and other spices to easily provide you an appetizing Korean meal.

“A la Pobre”, which means “of the poor”, is a funny name for a dish rich in taste and flavor to add on your favorite grilled meat or beef, pork and chicken with McCormick Steak a la Pobre Seasoning Mix. The distinct taste of garlic, soy sauce and other special herbs and spices is captured to provide you the exact taste of “a la Pobre” cooking style.

Spice up your grilled beef or pork with McCormick Pepper Steak Seasoning Mix. Made with pepper and garlic bits, it will surely give your grilled meats a flavor boost.

To get a better taste test of the Mc Cormic line of Grill Mates,  Mc Cormic will be hosting an event at Bonifacio Hight Street, BGC. The event called Mc Cormic Grill Nation will showcase all their different seasoning mixes through serving grilled meats that everyone can try out and enjoy! This event will be held on a Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 4 p.m. onwards.

For those of who are interested to join this special foodie event, the Mc Cormic Grill Nation will be held at Bonifacio High Street, Lane O cor. 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The event is not free though. There is an entrance fee of 100 pesos for all those interested. This amount includes all the freebies in store for all the attendees. Plus we all get to taste all the meat samples there with no limit. The entrance fee also includes 5 packs of Mc Cormic Grill mates given to us at the event. Now, I checked out the price tag for the Mc Cormic Grill mates at a nearby grocery (one pack costs 23.50 pesos). Then I compared the standard store price with the Grill Nation fee price tag, and assuming that each pack is at 20 pesos each, going to the event is like buying the 5 packs at discounted price, while getting freebies and eat-all-you-can all rolled into one!

Going to the event also gives us a chance to win a new outdoor griller via raffle. Now, that's taking our grilling FLAVOR to the next level!

To know more about the Mc Cormic Grill Nation event this coming April 7, 2013 at the BGC, Taguig City, you may visit the Grill Nation Facebook page. Click here for more details.

PLDT myDSL’s best commercial for me is…

The Anna Banana series is one of PLDT myDSL's recent commercials that has gained popularity in television and through social media like YouTube. The popularity of this series even generated an online contest on who will be the next Anna Banana.

For a quick rundown on what the Anna Banana series is all about, here are the previous Anna Banana commercials posted on YouTube.

It all started with a song made by Derek Lorenzo posted for Anna Banana on YouTube...

Derek’s Anna Banana Song

But it turns out Anna does not feel for Derek's move...

Derek got busted

Fortunately, the family is behind Derek to cheer him up and find a new Anna. Through an extensive online contest, a new Anna Banana is found.

Aria is the new Anna Banana!

And in the latest installment, Aria is now considered a part of Derek's family helping them search for their lost dog...

Booster, the Lost Dog

Family bonding for me is an important activity that helps build family ties. Going on outings together, having family reunions and simple routines like praying together before meals makes the family grow closer. And in this modern information age, family bonding can also be done by using the internet. Even if members of the family are far apart, we can still grow closer online in many ways like through chat by sharing our thoughts, and our everyday happenings through our shared photos and videos.

But family bonding is not always about the good times.

Sometimes family bonding is also expressed even in the worst of times. In the Anna Banana series, it is the son, Derek, who was feeling down. And his family, after learning what happened, cheered him up after his stunt to to win Anna's favor did not turn out well.

Come to think of it, that episode of Anna Banana reminded me I also had my own share of downs. From having a failure in a major test when I was still a student to having money problems when my wife had complications with giving birth to my first child, my family was always there to back me up.  They were the first ones to console me when things get rough. They were there to help so that I can quickly recover from my problems. I knew I can always count on them when the odds were against me. It was that episode of Anna Banana I can deeply relate to.

We all had our downs in life but it is our family who reminds us that even if we are down, we definitely are not out. That is why for me, the 2nd Anna Banana commercial brings out the best of family bonding. Mother, father and little sister showing our protagonist Derek, consoling him, and reminding him that everything will turn out all right despite it all.

To know more about the happenings on the Lorenzo family in the next Anna Banana release, you may subscribe to the PDLT myDSL Anna Banana YouTube Channel (

My First-Hand Experience With The New Nokia Lumia 820 and 920

I happen to pass by the recently opened Glorietta 2 to check out some of the latest gadgets available in the market. Among the gadget shops I visited was Abenson Glorietta found at the 3rd floor level. The store is just a few stores away from the Glorietta foodcourt.

What caught my interest there inside Abenson are some of the latest Nokia Lumia phones to date. At first glance, the phones look cool and classy, so I went to ask for a demo.

Ms. Faye, a Nokia representative was kind enough to give me a demo of the latest Nokia has to offer. Among them displayed for demo was the Nokia Lumia 820 and the Nokia Lumia 920. Both run under the newest Windows 8 operating system.

Some fast facts about the Lumia:

If you are new to Windows 8, the interface operates using a tile set for options. Slide the tile set using your fingertips to the sides or from top to bottom, and press a tile to select an option. It took some time getting used to but overtime I got the hang of it.

I was particularly interested in the Nokia Lumia 920 because of the tons of features loaded in the phone. Only weighing 185 grams, with dimensions of 130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm, this phone is easy to carry and can easily be handled while texting or calling.

It has two cameras, one 1.3 megapixel camera mounted at the top right primarily for video calls, and one 8 megapixel camera mounted at the back to take photos and videos.

The Lumia 920 is equipped with a 1.5 GHz Dual-core processor which practically makes the Lumia more like a palm computer rather than a phone. The touchscreen is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, which makes the phone very sensitive to touch. At 4.5 inches across, the glassy texture and overall feel gives me the impression the screen is also able to resist scratches.

I tried out the 8 megapixel camera, and was surprised to find out how clear and crisp the images came out to be considering the relative smallness of the lens. According to Ms. Faye, the lens brand of the lens for the Lumia is Carl Zeiss, which is similar to the ones used in Sony digicams. It also has optical image stabilization and autofocus for those who have shaky hands.

Smart phones are never complete without internet, social networking and file sharing capabilities. Aside from accessing the internet via mobile network, the Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with a Wireless LAN support,Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, DLNA, and Wi-Fi hotspot. In layman's terms, it translates to being able to connect to a public wi-fi zone for free internet access. Bluetooth is also available for localized file sharing.

Windows 8 on the new Lumia series comes with features that allow easy sharing of photos, videos and messages to the internet. No need to download a separate app or open the browser to access Facebook or Twitter.

Another cool feature the new Lumia series has is that you can take your work to a whole new level! The new Lumia now comes with full versions of Microsoft Office and Outlook, which you can open, edit and save on your phone. If you happen to take an FX home or to work, you can now edit Microsoft Excel and Word files while on your way. Unfortunately, for MS Powerpoint, you can only use Lumia to open Powerpoint files, not for editing as of the moment. Maybe in the future, Microsoft might add this feature.

Have you ever heard of wireless charging? Well, the Nokia Lumia 920 has this feature! If you have a Nokia charging plate, you can put the Lumia 920 on top of this to charge its battery. No need to plug this phone to charge.
The Nokia Lumia 820 is similar to the Lumia 920 with only slight differences. The Lumia 820 is slightly smaller with dimensions of 123.8 x 68.5 x 9.9 mm and a weight of 160 grams, slightly lighter than the Lumia 920. The Lumia 820 has an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. The screen is also very sensitive to touch, but compared to the Lumia 920, it doesn't feel as glassy. The front camera of the Lumia 820 is VGA only compared to the 1.3 Megapixel camera of the Lumia 920. Also, the Lumia 820 is not wireless charging ready when purchased. You would still have to change the phone's frame (or casing) so that the Lumia 820 can have this feature. Still the rest of the features are the identical, like the Dual core 1.5 GHz processor, Windows 8 Operating System and interface, wi-fi and bluetooth,  and overall look and feel.

With the demo I experienced, I am impressed with the appeal of the new Nokia Lumia series. Windows 8 has a lot to offer when it comes to applications particularly the use of Microsoft Office on a phone. Sharing multimedia is easy on Facebook and Twitter with the Lumia, and the camera function is simply great. If you happen to pass by Abenson in Glorietta, check out the demo booth directly in front of the Abenson entrance and give the new Lumia series a try.

Plus, if you are interested in buying it, Abenson offers 0% installment and you may pay as low as 500 pesos per month on the gadget you really want! You also get to have exclusive freebies if you make a purchase of a Nokia Lumia phone at Abenson.

My take on the new Lumia series? For me, it measures up to be a great phone to own, all in terms of design, usability and functionality.
