All I Want for Christmas is Canon

Nowadays people tend to rely on their cellphone cameras for their day-to-day snapshots. With today's cellphones, one can argue that more than 5 megapixels is enough to bring you a clear and crisp picture.

Some cellphones can actually do the trick delivering quality images but for most cellphones, this is not the case. An average cellphone even at 5 megapixels or more will give you blurry, fuzzy images specially when there is too little lighting or when shooting at night. Take my foodie experience for example. If I would take out my cellphone to take shots of food I ate, for example breaded chicken from a restaurant i visited before, they would come out to look like this...

But if I just brought out a digicam to take those pictures, it would have turned out much better, like this picture of caesar salad a just ate in another restaurant.

Simply put, there are certain cases cellphones don't deliver when it comes to digital imaging. And this is where Canon digicams shine. And that is why what I want for Christmas is a Canon digital camera. Canon digicams, even the point-and-shoot ones deliver better image quality and overall sharpness compared to the other gadgets available in the market.

So if this is the case for simple food experiences, why rely on cellphones for more important occasions such as birthdays, weddings, awarding ceremonies and the like? For me I would rather have a Canon to take out of my pocket and capture those all-important memories, not to mention my cravings for food.

PLDT myDSL's Be Derek’s Next Anna Contest

PLDT myDSL is looking for the next Anna Banana! Join this contest and get a chance to be the next Anna in  the upcoming PLDT myDSL commercial and also take home a new Samsung Ultrabook!

This contest is open to girls aged 12 to 16 years old.

For those who want to join this contest and do not know what Be Derek's new Anna is all about, you may want to check out these videos below...

This Derek's Anna Banana Original Video. (My opinion: He's just trying to be original, funny and cute at the same time.)

This however was Anna's reply video. Seems that Derek was turned down after all that effort.

But even after Derek's failed attempt to wow Anna, his family will always be there for him. As they say, the strongest connections are always at home.

If you ask me, making a song and dance video is no easy feat specially if you're doing it for someone you feel is special. It takes a lot of time to think it over, some creativity and of course 'guts' to actually do it. And after all that effort, he failed to get the girl to like him. Sad but in reality, it happens because you can't win them all.

Those who feel for Derek's heartbroken turn of events, you can help by finding Derek a new 'Anna' who will truly appreciate him. You may refer a friend or join yourself. For those gals who are 12 to 16 years old who want to fit into Anna's shoes may want to check out www.dereksnewanna.com and audition for the role.

There are two ways to join:

1. You may upload a video of yourself showing why you should be the next Anna. You may sing, dance, play a musical instrument, etc. There's no limit to showing your creative side.

2. You may visit any on-ground uploading stations and show your stuff on-site.

September 1 and 2 (Saturday and Sunday) Robinson Manila - Robinsons Place Manila, Level 1 fronting Jollibee Adriatico Wing
September 8 and 9 (Saturday and Sunday) SM Megamall - UGF Bldg B. Space 2 and 3 fronting French Baker

As a fellow contest enthusiast, my advise to Anna Banana aspirants: don't be shy to show what you can offer. Like Derek, it takes a lot of guts to pull this off.

Winner of this contest gets to be in the next PLDT myDSL Anna Banana commercial and take home a Samsung Ultrabook.

Last day of joining this contest is on September 15, 2012.

For more information, contest rules, guidelines and more, visit the PLDT Derek's New Anna contest site.

Trabaho? Sa TESDA May Choice Ka!

Trabaho.

Edukasyon? Anu-ano pwede kong kunin?

Hello World I'm back!

Hello world! it's been a long time since I posted a blog post on contests. It must have been more than 6 months since my last blog post. Lately I have been doing other more personal stuff. Oh well, my motto always is 'family first before contests.' :)

Hopefully I can recover from the long blogging break. I will be joining more contests soon and hopefully I can still bring out my mojo. Some of my last few blog contest entries late last year were a lot more misses than hits (as expected from a non-pro writer hehehe). For my last blog hit, my family and I would like to thank Electrolux Philippines for choosing my contest blog post on My Shirt Story. Winning the prize was a big big help to us.

If I have more time, I might be posting a little more, like interesting contests I find on the net, and/or join contests again. And if I had all the time in the world, I might even make contest joining a career. Of course the contests I join is not for myself alone, but for my family - my dearest wife and child. And I will pour my heart into it just like the good old days because I know deep within my soul that winning is everything, in contests and specially in life.

Hoping to be more active again soon...

Regards, rdnofera - The Contest Pirate
