Buy Stuff Cheap or Make Money With AyosDito!

If you are a kuripot bargain hunter or an online money maker just like me, you might want to check out and try AyosDito.ph! AyosDito is an Philippine online buy and sell site which allows you to post ads for stuff you want to sell or check out stuff you want to buy at a bargain price. And what's great about this site is that you post your ads here FOR FREE!

When it comes to bargain hunting, you can look up anything under the sun with AyosDito. Here you could try finding the best prices for a car, house and lot, digital camera, even a cheap laptop computer!

Online Selling through AyosDito

I used AyosDito for selling my stuff I don't need on several occasions. Once I sold my older MP3 player through this site because I had just won myself a new one, thanks to a contest I joined. A few hours after I posted my ad on AyosDito, I already got feedback from a lot of interested parties. Soon enough, I was able to sell my old gadget at the best price possible.

Posting an ad is very easy on AyosDito. All you have to do is fill up an ad form with your personal details and the item you want to sell.

sample of ad form that you fill-up before posting your item you want to sell...

What I like about AyosDito is that you place online ads categorized by item, AND the region and city you are from. Putting in location allows buyers and sellers to filter through the multitude of ads and take into consideration only those readily within their reach.

AyosDito doesn't just cater to segunda mano selling. You can also make free ads that sell brand new items, look for applicants and even promote your services here! If you are into retail, like selling lechon for example, AyosDito is also a great way to promote your business.

Buying Online through AyosDito

If you simply want to look for the best deals possible, AyosDito is a great place to check out! A lot of online Pinoys use AyosDito to sell their stuff, which gives us, potential buyers more and better choices.

Before looking for the best deals however, one must always consider personal requirements and the capabilities of the item you consider buying. For example, on how to find cheap laptops, before making a buy, you might want to ask yourself first "What kind of laptop do I need?" Do I need a laptop that is lightweight? with fast processing speed? big LCD screen? After knowing what you need, you can weigh in your ideal laptop with other models with similar features, and their corresponding prices. AyosDito, with its neat product listings and search options, can help you make better choices.

Kuripot people like us can always save more and make more money online through buy and sell, promoting our businesses or services, even recruit people and market ourselves online all thanks to AyosDito. Check out the AyosDito website to find out more...

Live BIG Your Way! Introducing Globe 4G Technology

Globe Telecoms has just made a BIG push towards faster mobile connectivity with the introduction of the new 4G technology here in the Philippines! With the advent of 4G technology, Globe allows us to LIVE BIG OUR WAY through mobile communications.

For those not familiar what 4G or 4th generation standard is all about, this new type of cellular technology allows us to communicate with our loved ones with faster and more reliable cellphone service, as compared to the older 3G standard.

To date, most cellphone services provide us with the aging 3G technology.

When it comes to mobile services, most of us Pinoys often use our cellphones for texting and calling our loved ones. For those purposes, 3G was good enough. However, as we embrace today's modern developments, like Facebook and internet based applications on mobile phones, we find 3G somewhat lacking.

Have you ever had an experience where you tried to use your smartphone to communicate or browse via the internet, and suddenly your phone bogs down or get disconnected?

Well, it's not because your smartphone is low-tech. It's mainly because of our current technology. With 3G technology, we get broadband connections with lower bandwidth.

For a better understanding of bandwidth and data, we can compare them to a pipe and water, where a smaller pipe allows less water to pass and reach the user. A bigger bandwidth, just like a bigger pipe, will allow more data to pass through.

Now, with Globe's 4G, they are now replacing their smaller pipes for BIGGER ones! As of late, Globe has announced that they are making the BIG switch to the 4G standard. This improvement will allow us to enjoy internet that is faster, more reliable and with less hassle.

What advantages are there with Globe's 4G Technology?

With Globe's 4G Technology, you can have the following on our mobile phones, laptops and tablets:

- high peak rates and lower latency
- improved “always-on experience”
- better multimedia upload
- high-speed web browsing
- faster streaming and downloads.

What can I do with Globe's 4G technology:

As the Contest Pirate, with the aid of Globe's 4G, I would be able to do all the stuff I do in the internet on my PC through my mobile phone - only better! Imagine, with Globe 4G, I could do the following...

1) I can upload my video contest entries on youtube through my mobile phone at a faster pace! Uploading videos take a lot of time specially if the video I produced is large. But with Globe 4Gs bigger bandwidth, I get to upload with more time to spare.

2) I can participate in online contests with faster response time! Some contests require you to be quick on your toes in answering. With a lagging mobile internet connection, you won't able to. But with Globe 4G, it's a different story. Winning speed contests is within my reach.

3) I can chat with friends online without hassle. There are intimate moments where you don't want to be bothered by minor glitches and disconnections. With Globe 4G connections, things like these will less likely happen.

4) I can download internet material much faster. With Globe 4G, I will be able to download more music, games, photos, videos and more! All that with the aid of my phone.

5) I can watch online videos without lag or slowdown. Sometimes when we watch a youtube or vimeo clip on your phone, and halfway through the streaming, the video suddenly stops at a critical moment. These are times you wished you had a copy of that show on your phone instead. With Globe 4G, you won't have to stuff your phone's memory of video clips you only need to watch once.

Most of us love to download files, chat, surf, upload and share our experiences on the net. And there are times we experience slow download and upload times, being abruptly cut-off and being unable to connect. Eventually with Globe's new 4G technology introduced right now, we can now have a better online experience at the palm of our hands.

For more information about Globe's 4G technology, do visit the Globe website. You may also check out Globe Telecommunications on Facebook to find out more about this new development in mobile communications.

DigitalFilipino.com Talks Blog Contest: My View on Opportunities in Mobile Content Development

My View on Opportunities in Mobile Content Development

Yesterday, February 14, 2011, DigitalFilipino.com posted a video on Making Opportunities in Mobile Content Development. JV Rufino, Director for Mobile for the Inquirer Group (http://www.inquirer.net) was interviewed for this topic.

As what Mr. Rufino said in the interview, mobile content development has a lot of potential, even to the point of overtaking internet content development on the PC. Mobile content development is not just restricted to cellphones but to the iPad as well.

Not all Pinoy families right now have internet connection at home BUT majority of us Pinoys have cellphones. That is the major reason why his argument holds true. And when it comes to iPad, a lot of us want to have this because of its sleek design, lightweight frame and portability.

According to him, there are forms of mobile content. Text updates are a basic part of sending mobile content. Older phones will be able to receive this kind of information without compatiblity problems. The other form is through mobile applications (or apps) where internet content can be displayed on more modern phones and the iPad.

What's great about today's technology is that we can literally hold the power of the internet at the palm of our hands. Mobile phones now have web browsers while some establishments provide free WiFi internet service for phones equipped with Wireless LAN, encouraging this mobile content trend.

The current trend with newer phones

The trend right now is headed to mobile apps because more phones coming out in the market (even the cheaper models) are internet ready and WiFi capable. Soon, these types of phones will be accessible to the masses. I think this is a good development for the masses because connecting to the internet is a lot cheaper than being charged on a per-text basis. For example, if your cellphone can connect you with a friend in Facebook, you will rather chat through that connection at 20 pesos per hour, rather than sending messages through text, which costs 1 peso per send.

The problems with Mobile Content Development:

A. Cheap but not for free

When it comes to sending mobile content through Short Messaging Syetem (SMS) or better known as text, companies can use this service, but it does not come for free! Companies who will use this may have to pay a 3rd party (like Globe or Smart) who can send the text updates for them. In order to cover the expenses, it trickles down to us, the end-users / subscriber.

Let's take the Inquirer for example. Let's say you subscribed to their text updates for the breaking news. Every time there is an update, you will be sent a short text message of the news, but in return, 2.50 pesos from your load balance will be deducted. (See the Inquirer Wireless service page for more info.) Whatever breaking news it is, whether it is significant to you or not, you will be charged per update.

From the masa approach, they would rather glimpse at the headlines on tabloids or newspapers rather than availing the service because 2.50 per update is expensive for people with a shoestring budget. Assuming a person gets 10 updates per day, that's 25 pesos which is good enough for a daily meal.

B. Underdevelopment for mobile apps

Mobile apps right now are fast becoming the trend, but what a lot of people do not realize is that it is not that easy to make a mobile app for your web content. This is because there is no standard when it comes to deployment of mobile apps.

When it comes to PCs for example, we have certain operating systems - Windows 7, Mac OS and UNIX are the more popular ones. When a developer makes an app for Windows 7, it won't run on Mac OS and vise versa.

All the more when it comes to mobile phones because each phone brand and model has its own operating system. There is bada for Samsung, Symbian OS for Nokia, Windows Mobile for HTC smartphones, etc. The trouble with that is you need specific developers who can develop a mobile app for you for each type of phone. If you want to have a lot of bases covered, you really are going to spend. So even if you ask a company to develop for you, I don't think it will come cheap.

Call for more mobile app developers

Since there is a lot of money-making potential in the mobile app development sector, IT experts may want to venture in developing mobile apps to prospective clients. Some telcos like Globe Labs (www.globelabs.com.ph) are offering free training courses to possible future mobile app developers. Its goal is to help IT professionals fill in the gap for the lack of mobile app development in the Philippines and hopefully help this fresh, new industry in the future.

Imumo SEO Blogging contest - contest entry

Here is what the contest is all about.

The “Imumo SEO blogging” contest is organized by imumo.com [“Organizer”]. The Contest will commence from 00:01 on 07 May 2009 and end 23:59 on 22 May, 2009 [“Contest Period”]. The winner of this Contest will receive a iPod Shuffle 4th Generation (4GB).

The following must be discussed to qualify for the contest:

1) Job Matching benefits

2) Looking for a job in the Philippines (there should be links going to imumo.com)

Posted below is my entry for this contest.

HAAAAY BUHAY! How difficult it is to find a good paying job in the Philippines! Thanks to the economic crunch and the population boom here, more and more college graduates are having a rough time finding one. At the same time, those with jobs are scared of moving on to a different company offering better pay for fear of losing their current position, and not being able to get the better paying job either. Because of this difficulty in finding good jobs, some are forced to settle for low paying jobs, sidelines, and odd jobs in order to earn a living.

My first day on the job as a street vendor / "pulubi"

Because of the current problems we have in our country today, the chances of landing a job has clearly become smaller. And so, in order for us applicants to get a better chance of landing a job, we try to find as many job openings possible. There are many ways to do this.

How do our applicants look for a job here in the Philippines?

Door Hopping

During the dark ages of no internet access, the old way is to drop by the doors of each company you are interested in applying for, then drop-off your application form and resume at the front desk. This is a time-consuming and tiring process because of the long travel time and uncertainty of job openings for each company you visit.

Newspapers

Another traditional method is to check out classified ads for possible openings. This is more effective than door hopping. At least you get to know that a company has an opening for the position you want to apply for before you actually go there. The downside is that you may have to buy one first, and not all the possible openings are listed in one issue.

Classified ads through newspapers are sometimes tedious to browse through...

Job Fairs

Some job applicants give a lot of effort going to job fairs just to submit their application forms and resume to various hiring companies in attendance. The advantage of this is you can drop-off your application forms and resume to a lot of possible employers in one trip.

The downside is, if you happen to be the applicant yourself at the job fair, specially the popular ones in Metro Manila, you'll find yourself jam packed with many other applicants as well! Imagine yourself and the rest of the applicants crammed in the venue like sardines in a can!

Desperate for a job, we Filipinos generally tolerate any hardship - the long lines, the waiting time, and the smothering competition.

The internet

Finally, with today's widespread internet accessibility, one can hunt for a job in the comfort of their own homes, or nearby internet rental shops.

Thanks to the internet, we can find job listings at the comfort of our home...

To look for job openings via the net, you may...

a) Visit official company websites. Company websites, specially large ones have links that post job openings for interested applicants. They may contain contact information where applicants can send their soft copy (saved data/information) of their resume, contact information and other relevant info about themselves via e-mail.

b) Register at Job related websites. Some web sites like imumo.com offer job seekers a wide range of choices for job openings.

Why imumo.com?

imumo.com provides Philippine job hunters a great concept called Job Matching. Job matching is a feature where the applicant is given possible openings based on their educational background, listed qualifications, work experience, skills, etc. With this advantage, it is like having the job looking for the applicant, and not the applicant hunting the job.

a snapshot of www.imumo.com's home page

imumo.com also provides contacts with former classmates also registered here, making character references much easier for you.

Job Matching benefits

Here are some advantages of job matching...

a) Minimizes time to job hunt. Because the jobs presented to the applicant is qualified for him to do, it shortens the time needed to browse and apply for a job. imumo.com sorts this out for you.

b) Gives the applicant better choices. Not all applicants want the same thing. Some applicants want to work near their homes. Others are willing to travel. Some want fixed schedules, others want flexi-time. imumo.com considers each applicant's preferences in presenting job openings.

c) Higher chance of landing a job. With imumo.com, the applicant is presented jobs and how well he will be able to do. imumo.com presents the applicant's standing of a particular job opening against other applicants applying for the same job. This standing is called match score. The higher your match score, the better your chances for that particular job opening.

And so, if you're looking for a job and you want to find possible openings fast, the first thing you could do is visit imumo.com and register FOR FREE! (Or simply log-in to imumo.com, if you are already a member.)

Registration is simple! It just requires you to fill up personal information like your name, e-mail address, birthday, contact information, educational attainment, and skills - just like creating an on-line resume. Then, that's it! You are now ready to have the imumo.com advantage!

To know more about the site, please do visit and experience www.imumo.com

Happy job hunting!
