Tuning It Up The 2nd Time Around With Muzikademy

Muzikademy, now on its second year is encouraging more participants for this fun-filled Music Camp. Similar to last year's Muzikademy, this project aims to enhance musical talent of out-of-school and underprivileged youth, and teach them how to become total performers in their two day training camp.

Aside from learning from the training camp, candidates also get a chance to win 100,000 pesos worth of prizes and cash. Out-of-school or underprivileged youth 15 to 28 years old are encouraged to join! High School students are also welcome!

"Sa mga gusto maging sikat sa larangan ng musika, ang Muzikademy ay may Music Camp para bigyan ng mga kabataan na walang pera para makapag-training sa larangan ng musika, at mabibigyan ng pagkakataon manalo ng 100,000 pesos halaga ng pera at iba pang premyo."

Thanks to the advocacy of Janice Hung, a renowned wushu model, athlete and singer, and her Managing Director Jen Louise Viola, Muzikademy was formed to give the underprivileged youth a better chance to succeed in the music industry. This event is co-presented with Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks and the Jimei Group.

This 2-day music camp (November 25-26, 2011) will have activities lined up for the event so participants can learn more about developing their music skills and boost self confidence and become better performers.

Muzikademy will also teach scholars how to become marketable not only in the Philippines, but globally.



To showcase the talent of the participating scholars, Muzikademy will hold a concert on Nov.26, 2011, 7pm at Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks, Concert Plaza, Freeport Zone, Pampanga where they will be performing with our very own local celebrities Mcoy Fundales, Tricia Garcia, Elaver, and featuring Chinoy Republic Band.

Muzikademy has partnered with big names in the Music industry like UNIVERSAL MCA - a top international recording label who distributes songs of top artists like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and a whole lot more! Plus more celebrity mentors and industry leaders will be there to guide the participants, such as Jonathan Manalo of Star Records and Kiko Salazar, a producer and composer as well.



How can you join the Muzikademy training camp 2011? (Paano sumali?)

1. Eligibilty: You should be 15 to 28 years old, male or female. Participants should be unsigned out-of-school youth, high school or college students. They can participate as solo, duet, trio or a band up to 5 members. (15-28 taon gulang na out-of-school youth o estudyante sa high school o kolehiyo ang pwede sumali sa Muzikademy training camp.)

How This Shirt Changed My Life: My Shirt Story

Dear Little White Book,

My unique shirt story began in 2006, nearly 5 years ago. It all started out when I told my mom I had a relationship. That was the first time I actually had a girlfriend. Her name is Ariane. I met her in the office I currently work with for years.


It was a new chapter in my life. I had mixed feelings about all this... I was happy because I get to experience something new, and at the same time anxious on what to is next to come. I was looking forward to what might happen with my very first relationship.

One ordinary day, my mom gave me a new shirt. It was a brown Polo shirt with navy blue stripes at the collar and sleeves. Probably she gave this to me because she figured I only had a few shirts in my closet being kuripot (thrift) and all. Plus, most of my shirts are checkered polo shirts, which some of my friends say they look boring for a date. And so mom told me to use this new shirt from time-to-time whenever I go out with Ariane.

From the start, this Polo shirt for me was special.

I used this shirt the first time we went on a date to Manila Zoo. For starters, I wasn't sure if she will have a good time, or if she finds a trip to the zoo corny for her taste. Lucky for me, we had a good time together at the zoo all day!

I couldn't forget the moment when she tried to take a picture of me with the ostrich. As I posed behind the ostrich, I was unlucky enough to be pecked from behind. She laughed so hard at what happened, it made me laugh out too! Too bad the shot did not push through. Lol, maybe the ostrich just liked my shirt. What a memorable first date it was for me...


Many months went by, and as my love for Ariane flourished, so did the love for my shirt. I would wear this shirt in some of our evening dates, and on Saturdays, when we usually go out together. For me, it was a sign that things are headed for the better.

My relationship with Ariane also brought a lot of positive things in my life. During those memorable moments and life changes, my shirt was also there with me.



I wore my favorite shirt when I received recognition for perfect attendance from the company I work with. I received this on February 2007. Somehow my new relationship inspired me to do more and improve myself.

Aside from improving how I work, I revived my passion in joining contests. I was a contest enthusiast even before we met, and I just gave up due to lack of interest. Because of her, I was inspired to join contests once more. Every now and then, I join different kinds contests, some of them I actually won. To make me feel more confident, I also wear my lucky shirt. Here are some instances where I wore my shirt in some of the most memorable contests I joined.


I joined a popular eating contest and made my way to the finals! I was lucky enough to be featured in a photo and article on the Philippine STAR.


I joined an online blog and design contest the first time I opened this personal blog Journey of no FERA. In this contest I featured my lucky shirt that depicts my personality. The artwork I designed is featured below...

And with God's grace, my inspiration and my lucky shirt, I won the contest prize and got featured in a respectable Technology blog.


The assemblage art contest we joined in July 2008 was the most memorable for us. For Ariane and I, it was the most difficult and challenging to do because it took us a lot of effort and sleepless nights to come up with a competitive entry. Our entry was exhibited along with the other entries that made it before the deadline.

On the last day of the exhibit, wearing my lucky shirt, we waited for the result to be announced. We were both tense at the outcome because we really put in a lot of effort making our contest piece...And finally the winner was announced. Our entry was chosen to win the first prize! It was a very defining moment for us because all our hardwork and effort was rewarded. Wearing my favorite shirt, I represented the both of us in claiming the prize.

With all the memories of the adventures the two of us experienced, my shirt made me feel like a real winner, through and though, but there is more to the story I share to you, oh Little White Book. I realized that all the wonderful things that have happened wouldn't have been without Ariane, who has inspired me to make the most out of life. And without the gift my mother gave me one ordinary day, maybe our love story would have not turned out to be.

Thanks to this wonderful gift: the shirt my mom gave to me, my life is headed in a new direction. After almost 5 years of being together, through ups and downs, trials and victories, I will finally be closing this chapter and opening a new one.

We will be getting married soon. It must have been fate that we met, and I am lucky that like my shirt, she stuck with me through thick or thin through the years. And also, I thank you mom for giving me this shirt which allowed me to be closer to the person most special to me.

I am looking forward to the next important chapter of my life. Even though I know married life will be filled with all new adventures and challenges, I will never forget the wonderful times I had with my lucky, special Polo shirt I often wore together with Ariane, the person I will cherish all my life.

What Else Can I Do With A Samsung SMART TV?

As I previously mentioned in my introduction to the Samsung SMART TV, this cool device is just not an ordinary TV. It's television, multimedia device and internet portal all rolled into one!


But even if I pointed out its major functions, the Samsung SMART TV is clearly an innovation that can do a lot of things. Our limitation for its use is bound only by our imagination.

...as an 'alert/alarm device'. I can rig the remote control to an infrared or motion sensor device (rigging needs more knowledge in electronic devices). When someone triggers the motion/infrared sensor, it will turn 'ON' the rigged remote, which then turns ON the Samsung Smart TV and/or other loud devices, scaring away any intruder.


[Miscellaneous]

...as an alarm clock. The Samsung SMART TV can be programmed to turn on at a certain day and time as long as it's plugged in and set up properly.

...as a pacifier. I can use the Samsung SMART TV to put me to sleep by allowing me to view and listen to mellow music videos. By the time I sleep, the Samsung SMART TV shuts down on the programmed time.

...as a digital calendar. The big LED screen is a perfect display to remind you of important dates and times.

...as a big countdown timer. For special occasions like outdoor races or New Year celebrations.

...as a mirror? It can be done using a video camera hooked to the input feed of the Samsung SMART TV. Place the camera at the top front of the TV and presto! Why do this? Because it's crazy, fun (and it works too).


Think of all the fun things you can do with a Samsung SMART TV. We now have a social, educational and entertainment package in one. And with more apps to be released in the future, you could also expect to do more with your Samsung SMART TV too. It simply shows that being SMART is knowing you can do limitless things with something made SIMPLE.

Give Tomorrow Hope Through Teaching Using the Samsung SMART TV

For those who have studied in a good private school, complete with books and school supplies, consider yourselves lucky. Good quality education is hard to come by for the underprivileged, the poor or those living in the far reaches of the countryside.
How can these children afford to get the education they rightfully deserve if they don't have books, uniforms, classrooms, enough teachers and even electricity?

Even today, there are still hard-to-reach barrios in the mountainous regions of the Philippines who do not have electric power to make use of the most basic necessities.


Because of the lack of development in the countryside, good quality education is hard to come by. The effect? A lot of these children grow up to have a hard time getting a decent job.

If government will not act on this, how can the Philippines be globally competitive? How do we expect to prosper as a nation?

Fortunately, there are non-governmental groups and individuals willing to volunteer and fill in the gap. By going to the countryside and teach children the basics, we can do more to alleviate one of the biggest problems the Philippines has today - our lack of decent basic education.

With a Samsung SMART TV, we can help alleviate the problem.

Teaching through television is quite effective, but the problem doing this is that most isolated barrios do not have electricity and electrical equipment can be heavy.

Fortunately, there are portable power systems available today we can bring on our outreach program, AND as for our teaching tool, the Samsung SMART TV is thin and lightweight. That makes it easy to carry in case one has to bring the TV all the way up to the mountains by foot.

Teaching underprivileged kids may be a lot hardwork, and takes some patience and determination too. But once you see their bright smiles, it is all worth the effort.


A SMART nation begins with the youth. We should do what we can to help build young minds.

Never-Ending Fun and Games With the Samsung SMART TV

Video games and television have gone hand-in-hand for decades. For those of us who are hardcore gamers, we probably own some of the latest gaming consoles, or souped up PCs that allow maximum gaming enjoyment.

Who would have thought that one day, video games will be incorporated along with the television set. The Samsung SMART TV also allows me to play video games even without a gaming console.

There are quite a selection of games you can play to pass your time. The Samsung SMART TV has gaming apps installed for our enjoyment.

Why video games installed in our TV?

Well, even if you are not a hardcore gamer, chances are, there will be times we simply get bored. With nothing good to watch on TV, and want to do something else aside from our regular Facebook and Twitter routine, video games are a SMART option.

What kind of games can I play on a Samsung SMART TV?

The Samsung SMART TV is equipped with games suitable for the casual gamer. These types of games can be enjoyed by the vast majority. You don't have to be gaming expert to enjoy them.

To mention a few, here are some of the games I can play with the Samsung SMART TV...

1) Texas Holdem - this card game simulates a fun poker game. It's more fun if you play this with friends.


2) Dynamic Bowling - this is a party game that simulates bowling fun!


3) Maze Fun - this cartoony puzzle game can be enjoyed by the whole family.


4) Bejeweled 2 - this popular puzzle game can also be played using the gaming app.

For those who want more games ,there are a lot more gaming apps we can choose from in the Samsung Apps Store. Some games can be downloaded for free while others at a cheap price.

Use Internet to Connect with Friends and Loved Ones With Samsung SMART TV

Decades ago, it was very costly to call your friends and loved ones specially when they are overseas. But today, thanks to the internet, we are now able to connect with our friends and loved ones in ways that are fast, reliable and relatively cheap.



With more ways than one, we can bridge the gap through our PCs, or smartphones. And with today's technology, we can also connect with them with our TVs! With a Samsung SMART TV, I can also send messages, chat or talk with my loved ones online.

Connecting through Facebook

As I mentioned earlier on my blog on earning extra income (by joining online contests), Facebook is available on a Samsung SMART TV. With A Samsung SMART TV, I could connect with Facebook and post my messages and status updates online! With it, I can send private messages to my friends or chat with them whenever they are online. Having your own Samsung SMART TV is just as good as having your own PC for your Facebook routines.


Twitter Updates

With Twitter on Samsung SMART TV, I can broadcast my status or read twitter updates from my friends, loved ones, even celebrities or blog posts I follow. A Twitter app on a Samsung SMART TV allows us easy twitter access.

Skype Services


For those not familiar with Skype, this web service allows 3G and internet users to talk with your loved ones through the internet. If I have a 3G phone or PC, I can easily connect and talk with other Skype users using either their own 3G phone or PC to communicate. Samsung SMART TV also allows us to do this. In order to talk to the other party however, you will need an external camera and microphone connected to the Samsung SMART TV. Once configured, it's like talking to your loved one on a PC. A TV experience like this is definitely like no other.


All these and more allow me to share my experiences with other people. Thanks to the power of technology, bonding with others far away has been made SIMPLE. With a Samsung SMART TV of my own, I know that connecting and sharing our thoughts with our loved ones can be done the SMART and easy way.

Stay Healthy and Active with the Samsung SMART TV

In this fast-paced modern world, who could ever find the time for a quick exercise routine? Healthy living and exercise are at times neglected because we don't even feel the need to do it.


We know it's good for us. We know the right foods and exercise can help us reduce weight, keep us in top form, make us feel energetic and youthful, and keep us away from sickness but we probably will forgo it because of a lot of trivial reasons.

Computer related and office jobs tend to make us live a sedentary lifestyle. Whether we are into accounting, advertising, I.T. or blogging, most of the time we are stuck in front of our PC monitors sitting down and doing our job. We end up moving less while increasing the effects of stress, obesity and heart ailments.

Maybe we need some motivation to commit ourselves to a health program. We probably might need some eye candy too! A Samsung SMART TV might be able do the trick. With a Samsung SMART TV, healthy living is just a few clicks away!

Exercise Routines

If I already have a collection of exercise DVDs, I can hook up my DVD player to the Samsung SMART TV. Exercise will definitely be fun! Just watching the routine being played under a big flat LED screen can keep you glued with the program. The screen which displays soft color tones will keep that eye strain to a minimum, while I mimic the moves on TV.

Now what if I'm too lazy to buy exercise DVDs? If I am that determined to start out my workout, all I have to do is reach out for Samsung SMART TV's internet interface. There are a lot of exercise videos posted out on the internet, just like this exercise video below from youtube. I can always have access to this video and more as long as they are posted online. Also, I could access the Samsung Apps called Exercise TV which allows me free exercise and workout videos - cool!



Video Gaming as exercise

Since I have an older video gaming console like the Playstation, I can use Dance Dance Revolution game and burn some calories. It could even be more enjoyable if I had a more modern gaming console like the Wii since some of its games also offer exercise routines. Hopefully the Samsung SMART TV has its own gaming apps similar to the exercise console games for maximum enjoyment. Then, you won't need to own a separate gaming console for exercise.

Food for thought

Aside from a regular exercise regimen, I must also make sure I am eating right. To know more about healthy eating, I can always check out food programs on TV like the ones shown in The Food Channel or The Lifestyle Channel.

If I am more familiar with the internet, I can always check out blogs on the latest trends about healthy diets. Yahoo at times post interesting articles on food specially on what or what-not to eat. With a Samsung SMART TV, I will have easy access to information that can help maintain my healthy habit.

Mentioning all the fun ways on how to maintain a health program with a Samsung SMART TV, what remains now is when you want to start one. Health and exercise should always be a main part of our lives, not just an afterthought because having healthy and active living is definitely SMART living.

Attract More With The Samsung Smart TV!

If you find that your living room is quite a bore these days, maybe its time for us to 'step up' to the times. Most often than not, what makes your living room a totally exciting place to be in is its centerpiece, namely, the living room television set.


That's where the Samsung SMART TV comes in. With the aid of this high tech state-of-the-art equipment, you will be able to WOW your family, friends, and even special guests who drop by your humble abode.

With the Samsung SMART TV in my living room, entertainment can be as good as it gets.

Who wouldn't want to sing their hearts out during videoke sessions using a wide screen LED display. With a Samsung SMART TV, I could hook it up with any DVD or videoke player, and presto! I get to have a more visual singing experience (even if I don't have much singing talent, lol).


Now for those who are skeptical on the correctness of your videoke's lyrics (from time-to-time I get to see mistakes in grammar myself), you can always search for the right lyrics through the internet. If you connect your Samsung SMART TV to the internet and your videoke player at the same time, you can compare lyrics by using the search option on your TV. Now you'll be SMART enough to know what you're singing is accurate.

For special occasions like Christmas parties, or family gatherings, I can always count of a Samsung SMART TV to entertain, even through dance.



The way I see it, the best way to use the Samsung SMART TV for dance is by searching routine and instruction videos on the internet. For those who do not have any idea on dance choreography, you can use the dance videos as examples.

If you're really in to it, you can use these dance routine videos while performing your act at the same time! You can mount this wide screen TV on a wall behind you or your group while you perform. It will definitely add to the presentation factor!

For a more personal touch, I can even use my Samsung SMART TV for exercise dance routines too! Since I am health conscious, instead of buying exercise DVDs, why won't I search for exercise routines on the net I can follow. With the Samsung SMART TV, I won't need to go out of your way to buy new episodes every time I get bored with your old routine.

If I get to own my very own Samsung SMART TV, I can be the center of attraction, which also makes me cool and SMART!
