I just found out this morning that my entry for the Western Digital Father's day contest was selected as the winner in the Most Lovable Pop category. In this category, the winning entry was selected by the panel from Western Digital based on creativity, relevance, originality and overall impact. I was so anxious to find out after weeks of waiting for the announcement.
And tonight I found out that my entry for the Yahoo meme contest week 5 was also selected to win the iPad! I really did not expect all this because I felt I did not have enough time to make my entries better. Still, I know I did them the best I possibly can within the remaining time allotted to me.
Funny thing about the Yahoo meme week 5 contest is that this was actually extended for another two weeks, and so more entries flooded in. And I also thought that, "Hey... I tried to beat the deadline and yet they actually extended it..." And after the contest extension, Someone even made a not so pleasant statement that in my MTV I looked like I was kissing Yahoo's ass.... harharhar! And maybe my lyrics kissed ass too...
And yet I won... :)
If you want to see my video entries for the Western Digital and Yahoo Meme week 5 entries, you can view them in my previous blog here...
First of all thank you so much Yahoo Philippines and Western Digital for choosing my entry in their respective contests. Many thanks to all those who liked my Western Digital video entry on Facebook, and reposted and commented on my Yahoo meme week 5 entry. Also very special thanks to bloggers Jayson Biadog of Winner's Place and Maria Cecilia Tan Velasquez of Basta Igat Sikat who supported my yahoo meme entry through comments and reposts. I also thank my gf and parents for giving me moral support, advice and the motivation to strive even more all these years.
Finally, thank you Lord for all the wonderful blessings I received up to this day. I hope I could return the favor to all of you someday...

M&M's Fun Travel Promo
M&M is giving away promo goodies in their M&M's Fun Travel Promo. All you have to do is whenever you buy certain M&M products, collect their wrappers to earn points, and exchange those points for freebies! Freebies include luggage tags, bag slings, foldable pillows, and even a backpack!
This promo is open to all residents in GMA (Metro Manila) and Luzon only. The promo period is from July 15, 2010 to October 15, 2010. To read the full mechanics of the promo, just click the image above or click here...
Personal Note: The good thing about this promo is that you do not really have to produce a proof of purchase / receipt to participate. Just collect the participating M&M wrappers, and once you have enough points, you're ready to claim! You can try to be creative/resourceful in collecting wrappers. (e.g. ask for wrappers from relatives and friends instead.)
Be reminded that not all M&M wrappers are qualified for the promo. They should have a "best before" date of 2010 / 2011. Also, check the list of participating M&M variants before claiming your freebies.

Speeding up uploading video content
So far, I have seen a lot of video contests going around over the internet. For those of you who want to join these cool video contests, there might be times you will be asked to upload your video on Youtube, or on Facebook so that the public, and the judges can view your entry.
Most often than not, you will feel discouraged to upload your video because it takes too long to upload. When I first tried to join a contest which required video, it took me more than an hour to upload my entry. More than an hour feels like an eternity, and I even ask myself... why does it take that long to upload a three minute video?
For those who experienced the same fate as mine, then read on...
For newbies in the video making realm, we should be aware that there are many video formats used today. There is AVI, MP4, M4V, 3GP, and so on. Why the different video formats? Well, for one thing, we should accept the fact that there is no such thing as a standard video format. Another thing is, there are formats done in high resolution, while others, low. And there are video formats that play better on certain video players only.
When it comes to recording video, try to notice what file format your video is saved. When you try to record your video via video or digital camera, sometimes they save it as an AVI format, for cellphones, they sometimes use 3GP format. To verify which format your video is saved, just check its file properties when you copy your video to your PC.
If you want to upload a video, certain formats will take a long time to load on youtube, like AVI for example. It might take you 40 minutes (or more depending on your internet speed) to upload.
But, there is way to make uploading video faster. How? By converting your video before you upload!
How do we convert our video? First, you must have a video converter application. If you don't have one, there are many free downloadable video converters on the internet. Maybe you can try to download one here... or you may google other free video converters on the net (try using video converter as key words)
After downloading, install the video converter on your PC. Then, after installing, you are now ready to covert. But what would be the best format to convert your video into for fast uploads?
The answer is... FLV format.
FLV stands for Flash Video format. This is the type of format used in many of the video sites all over the net, like youtube and facebook.
Try to do a simple experiment to verify that FLV loads faster. Try it out on youtube - your original video taken from your camera versus your converted FLV video. You will definitely notice a dramatic change in upload speed. What might take 30 minutes to upload before with your original (AVI , Quicktime movie, etc) might only take about 5 minutes with the converted FLV file.
This tip is very useful specially if you are joining a lot of video contests but feel you might not have the time to upload them all. Hopefully this tip will help you save time, and at the same time encourage you to upload more video entries on the internet.

Personal Note: For those interested in joining this contest, here is my unsolicited advice. You only have 15 seconds max to convey what you have to say, so keep your message simple but with impact. Your video must not contain any sound or talk, just plain visuals. Probably, the reason behind it is that if your entry is chosen, San Marino will use your video as a commercial on electronic billboards, which most of the time doesn't feature sound. Also, no white background probably because your video might become too bright for the billboards, which might cause vehicular accidents (just my guess)...
You can even be creative by using strong visuals and actions - just like a TV commercial. Also, if you are serious in winning this, then you must integrate the San Marino brand in your video. Although the criteria says brand integration is only 5% of the total score, in order to win every point counts.
It's a cool contest, and you may even be featured as a commercial in an electronic billboard! Think of it as your 15 seconds of fame.
For more information about this contest, you may visit the San Marino contest website or the San Marino Facebook page

Personal Note: The application has 3 mini-games in it. There is a word puzzle game, a multiple choice game and a simple dodgeball game. All three games are related to dodgeball, it's rules and some important events in the Philippines. If you don't know where to find the answers to the first two games, just read the facts displayed during the 'loading game' splash screen.
The game has a style of humor, borrowing some cliches from the movie comedy Dodgeball.
As for my personal review of the game, all-in-all it's very simple and repetitive. But if you want to win the individual or monthly prize, you have to deal with the redundant gameplay. Also, I don't really appreciate the humor part because this game should promote dodgeball. If you interpret the humor negatively, you'd think dodgeball is for wimps...
Still, I encourage all to try out the game and win the prize.

It has been done before in last year's Bingo promo. Some even post their requested numbers for trading via the internet.
Also take note that there are certain bingo numbers that will be very high in demand because they occur in the 500,000 pesos formation, specially Number 6 and Number 65.
Also, you should already be on the move because the promo lasts until August 3 only.

Cadbury's Gift of Pure Happiness Promo
Cadbury Philippines is currently sponsoring a charity promo called Cadbury's Gift of Pure Happiness. The objective of this promo is to raise funds for Operation Smile, giving brighter smiles to children with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities from these conditions.
Join this promo and you will have a chance to win a trip for four to Hong Kong Disneyland and pocket money worth 200,000 pesos. What's also great about this promo is that, similar to the 2 previous art contests of Cadbury (which I won 1st and 2nd respectively), the prize is convertible to cash!
There are two ways to participate in their promo. You may either:
a) join the mall event tour
As of writing, the next mall tour will be at SM Pampanga on July 17 and 18, and SM Megamall on July 31 and August 1, 2010. A minimum of 300 pesos worth of Cadbury chocolates will entitle you to three (3) raffle coupons.
b) join the text promo
A minimum of 150 pesos qualifies you to join the text promo. You will have to register your contact number and personal info first before sending your entry.
The complete contest mechanics in PDF format can be found here...(click to view)
Personal Note: There are two grand prizes available for this promo. One for mall tour and one for text. I think you will have a better chance of winning if you join the mall tour promo. It is possible that there will be fewer participants / entries to the contest, which makes your probability of winning higher. But then again, it's a game of luck and chances of winning are really slim. Just participate for the sake of fun and at the same time donating to charity, and who knows? You might just win unexpectedly. (It happened to me before when I won an iPod nano 4th gen from the mcDonald's Coke Float promo. And I only bought the float becuase my gf wanted to drink...)
For more information about this promo, you may visit the Cadbury Philippines website.
